The Sindh government has increased the pay of the 4,425 teachers who are contractual in the province from Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 25,000 per month, as reported by a news channel.
In this respect, Provincial Finance Department has approved a budget of Rs. 995.6 million to cover teachers’ increased salaries for nine months between April and December 2022. It is important to note this: it was the Sindh Cabinet who already approved this decision on the 7th of July.
The increase was made following the province’s Education Department forwarded a summary of the matter in the direction of the Auditor General (AG) Sindh for approval.
Sindh Teachers Salary Increment Up to Rs7000
It is important to remember that these teachers were enrolled in two programs of the federal government that is the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) as well as the Basic Education Community Schools (BECS) under the administration of former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf.
After the 18th Amendment was enacted, the teachers were placed under the supervision of government officials of Sindh. In the meantime, the option to make these teachers regular has not yet been taken.
