The Ministry of Finance has officially announced the budget for 2023-2024. In response to repeated requests from government employees, the finance department has announced an increase in the Adhoc Relief Allowance (ARA) for all active and retired government workers.
The ARA will be increased by up to 35%, depending on the employee’s grade. The increase will be effective from July 1, 2023.
The following table shows the new ARA rates for government employees:
|Grade||New ARA Rate|
Employees of autonomous and semi-autonomous organizations and companies, as well as employees of public sector businesses, will not be eligible for the ARA increase. However, the finance division committee has recommended that these employees also be given an ARA. The government is still considering this recommendation.
The ARA increase is a welcome relief for government employees, who have been facing rising inflation. The increase will help to offset the rising cost of living and improve the standard of living for government employees.
