Federal Education Minister Appointed As A New VC Of AIOU

The Minister of Federal Education and Profession Training, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Has been appointed the acting Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU).

In this respect, it is reported that the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT) has released a statement and informed it would take on the role of acting VC on November 23rd according to section 11(2) in the AIOU Act, 1974.

It is crucial to remember the fact that Rana Tanveer Hussain will serve in this capacity until a permanent VC of the university is chosen.

In September, the Education Ministry announced vacancies of two Vice-Chancellors (VCs) and Rectors in three public universities in the capital city of the federal government.

According to the announcement, one VC post each at Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) and AIOU as well as a vacant position of Rector at the International Islamic University (IIU) was announced. These positions will be filled in accordance with the legal process.

As We all know Vice-chancellors are in charge of the university’s administrative and academic departments. They are able to serve on numerous university councils, aid in the development of policies and academic plans make budgets, and help maintain the positive image of the institution.

In the past, AIOU’s regional center, which is equipped with the most recent internet technologies and a new internet connection, was officially inaugurated in the southern region of Balochistan’s capital, and CPEC’s most important port of the sea, Gwadar.

The Federal Minister of Education, Rana Tanveer Hussain, attended the ceremony to cut the ribbon on the campus, naming it as the 54th regional center of AIOU across the country.
