This is a step to manage the passengers who fly to Doha to attend this year’s Soccer World Cup.
The hire is intended to ensure Qatar Airways is prepared to handle the massive influx of people during the tournament as well as to handle the post-pandemic growth.
10,000 Upcoming Jobs in Qatar Airways For FIFA World Cup 2022 Preparations
The airline plans to increase its workforce to over 55,000, up from the current figure of 45,000. Other airlines will substantially boost flights to Qatar and have recently reopened an old airport to host the festival. “It will be a huge challenge to be able to manage this very fast-moving demand for very large numbers of spectators,” Qatar Airways CEO Akbar al-Baker told reporters earlier this year.
The airline did not say the number of new jobs would be permanent. It reduced staffing levels to less than 37,000 by 2021, after cutting its cities of service to 33 in the midst of the epidemic in 2020. The organization has since ramped up operations back to over 150 cities.
